DDB Brace (Dynamic Derotation Brace)

The duration of the application and the type of brace are determined per patient, always in cooperation with the attending physician.

The DDB type brace is used for scoliosis and kyphosis. It is an underarm, thoracolumbar orthosis, made by thermoplastic hypoallergenic material.

Frontal duralumin struts, real metal blades, metallic antirotatory devices, as well as lateral pressures at the internal walls are able to exert the three dimensional corrective effect of the DDB brace.

It has the ability to elevate the shoulders and it corrects the lateral scoliotic curvatures of the spine, in addition to rotational deformations of the thoracic ribs and rotational deformations at the lumbar region, where clinically they appear as humps.

The history of the DBB begins in the early 80s with the Director of the KAT Hospital Scoliosis Unit, Dimitris Antoniou, as a new modification of the Boston, and it was completed with the cooperation of the physician Ioannis Valavanis.

It was first presented in Bermuda in 1986, at a congress of the British Scoliosis Society (BSS) and Scoliosis Research Society (SRS). It was also known as the Greek brace.

This pioneering and innovative at the time brace took its name by the acronym Dynamic Derotation Brace.

With some slight aesthetic differences from the Boston and with more derotational supports, posterior central process and the ability to elevate the shoulders, the DBB brace manages correct humps and rotational deformations, guaranteeing a conservative treatment for scoliosis and kyphosis.

The Scoliosis SLC offer free of charge during treatment:

Sent in digital form to the Carver Robot, and the cast is perimetrically curved.
